I've been playing games since 1996 鈥?started on a hand-me-down PC playing Doom, Warcraft 2, and every shareware RPG I could fit on a floppy disk. After thousands of games across PC, consoles, and handhelds, I started this site because I was tired of seeing great games get terrible guides. I write every guide on this site myself.
I started Global Game Guides because I kept seeing the same problem: great games with terrible guides. Either it's a shallow paragraph that doesn't help when you're stuck, or it's a massive wiki that buries the useful tip under layers of lore. I wanted a site where the person writing the guide has actually played the game 鈥?died to the boss, tested the build, found the cheese 鈥?and can tell you about it in plain English.
Every guide here is based on real playtime. I don't cover games I haven't finished. When I say "this build slaps" or "this boss is unfair BS," I've earned that opinion by spending the hours. I update guides when patches change things 鈥?nothing worse than following advice that's outdated by two versions.
I focus on games that don't hold your hand:
I treat guides like I'm talking to a friend who just bought the game. If a mechanic is confusing, I explain it with a real example from my playthrough. If a boss is unfair, I show you the cheese 鈥?and I'll also tell you the "right" way to beat it if you want bragging rights. No fluff, no corporate SEO padding, just practical advice from someone who's been there.
I also update older guides when patches change things. Games evolve, guides should too.
